The Tongtai MT series of high speed, high precision dual-spindle CNC turning centers employs a separated bed structure to ensure precision and thermal stability, and prevent transfer of harmonic vibration between the spindles. The headstock, turret, and saddle are mounted on the same plane utilizing the flat bed monoblock casting. To maximize rigidity and precision, the machines are cast from Meehanite iron.
The machines accommodate a maximum turning diameter of 8.26″ (209 mm) and maximum turning length of 5.70″ (144 mm). Distance between the twin spindles is 17.32″ (439 mm). The twin 4,500 rpm spindles are driven by 20 hp high-torque motors. Spindle structures are mounted using double row roller bearings in conjunction with angular contact ball bearings for high rigidity and accuracy.
Precision roller type linear ways and large servo motors provide accurate positioning and a compact structure. The coolant tank is separate from the machine base to prevent heat transfer from the coolant, and double-nut ballscrews are pre-tensioned to eliminate thermal growth.
Twin 12-station (8 optional) bi-directional servo turrets provide 0.45 second indexing to the adjacent tool and 1 second indexing to the 180° opposite tool station. C-axis and live tools are available as options. The servo turret offers VDI-40 quick change tooling, 0.3 second index time, and a 7.5 hp, 5,000 rpm milling motor. A rear exit chip conveyor and dual 8″ (203 mm)-diameter 3-jaw hydraulic chucks are provided as standard.
The MT Series features a dual gantry/dual work stocker system. Air part seat confirmation through the chuck is standard along with high pressure coolant through the spindle. The 3-axis gantry robots travel at up to 6,300 in/min (160 m/min) and can index the rotary axes 180° in only 1 second, producing a load/unload time of 5 seconds. A 14-pallet work stocker enables long periods of unattended operation. A part turn over device is standard for running A-B.
A Fanuc OiT-F control with color LCD and full MDI keypad is standard.
