You Ji AH Oil Country horizontal slant bed turning centers are specifically designed and built to provide the power and rigidity needed for heavy-duty oil-country style machining applications. The machines’ unwavering strength and reliability recall that of CNC turning centers manufactured in the 1980s.
Each of the two machine models incorporates a 60 hp spindle that uses two sets of double-row roller bearings to accommodate radial loads and a pair of angular contact bearings for axial loads. The spindle delivers torque of 3,154 lb-ft at 100 rpm. A 3-speed geared head is equipped with an oil chiller unit to maintain thermal stability.
Swing over the one-piece 45˚ slant bed is 37.4″ (950 mm) and maximum turning diameter is 35.4″ (900 mm). Depending on the machine model, longitudinal travel starts at 40.5″ (1 m) and extends to 158″ (4 m). Distance between centers begins at 45.4″ (1.15 m) and reaches 163″ (4.14 m) on the largest machines. The machines have a 24″ (610 mm) 3-jaw chuck and bar capacity of 6.02″ (152 mm) or 8.05″ (204 mm).
The cross slide is at a 55˚ angle to enhance operator access and add mass to the saddle assembly. Box ways in both axes are widely spaced, and hand scraped mating surfaces feature Turcite-B coatings. Large 2.5″ (63.5 mm)-dia. precision ballscrews in the Z-axis and high-power Fanuc servo motors deliver high thrust for heavy turning, boring and drilling.
A 12-station hydraulically-actuated and clamped turret features a 6.5″ (165 mm) thick turret tool disk that holds 1.25″ (31.75 mm) square shank turning tools and boring bars up to 3″ (76.2 mm) in size.
The coolant tank is separated from the machine base to prevent heat transfer from the coolant to the machine casting and facilitate cleanout and maintenance. Standard features include a high-capacity chip conveyor, programmable tailstock, oil skimmer, and the Fanuc OiT-D control with a 10.4″ (264 mm) LCD and Manual Guide i-Conversational programming.
