The four You Ji WV series high-production vertical lathes are designed for large lot size machining of large aluminum wheels or similar parts. The compact, high precision, heavy duty machines can be applied as a stand alone machining cells or be integrated with other machines to form a complete flexible manufacturing system.
Depending on the specific model, the machines handle wheel diameters up to 22″ (560 mm) or up to 27.5″ (698 mm).
The machines’ vertical columns and bases are Meehanite castings, heavily ribbed to minimize distortion and dampen vibration. The X-axis is a rigid square ram on box ways and the Z-axis employs roller type linear guideways. Together, the square ram and specially designed sliding covers inside the machine virtually eliminated chip disposal problems. High speed guideway systems enable rapid traverse rates of 600 in/min (15.2 m/min). Precision class 3 ballscrews are driven directly by the servo motors, eliminating belts or gears.
The spindles feature a heavy-duty design that incorporates high-precision double roller bearings and 45˚ angular contact thrust bearings. NN type spindle bearings are used to endure high centrifugal loads and high spindle loads. A standard 30 hp (optional 60 hp single wound) dual wound high-torque motor drives the spindle via belts and delivers power for heavy duty machining as well as high speed for fine finishing. Spindle power choices include 60 hp and 100 hp options.
A 6-position hydraulic vertical hex turret is mounted on the ram with heavy duty bolt on tooling. The turret provides index time of 0.8 seconds and automatic shortest route tool selection. A standard chip wash system flush chips directly to the conveyor.
